Los Angeles Times
A parody wrapped in a spoof surrounded by a lampoon, this musical satire is a study in concentrated silliness. Sherwood Schwartz, the series creator couldn’t have foreseen what an enduring cultural phenomenon his “Brady” would become. The music is infectiously jaunty with plenty of tongue-in-cheek naughtiness. Pure camp.
The music and lyrics are tuneful and clever, the book is witty and should entertain those who grew up watching the titular tots.
Unexpected rhymes, singable melodies, the songs are sweet and funny and satisfying. A Very Brady Musical is a loving tribute to a very specific time in ourcollective history. In 40 years the original TV show has spanned the generations, each of which has recognized it as the cult classic it has become.
